Ireland’s energy sector is aiming to develop 5GW of offshore wind by 2030

Floating offshore wind is no longer an embryonic technology, but the sector needs policy support from government, the head of power generation has said.

Jim Dollard, executive director of power generation and trading at the ESB, said the development of offshore wind power could be a “game changer” for Ireland’s energy sector but said changes to government policy were needed to get the sector off the ground.
