The Garda Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has sent a memo to Irish financial institutions asking them to watch out for potential sales of counterfeit vaccines for Covid-19.

The warning is based on intelligence gathered by other law enforcement agencies of efforts to sell fake vaccines for the virus online. Several scams of this nature have been spotted in Europe although none have been identified in Ireland to date.
