According to the Department of Public Expenditure, around 92 per cent of those who had their certs validated between July 27 and August 5 were Irish. The remaining 8 per cent were mainly from Britain, France, Italy, Germany and other EU countries.

Close to three-quarters of a million people have used their new digital Covid-19 certs for indoor dining and for flights abroad.

The information has been recorded on the government’s digital Covid-19 cert checker app, which is being used by bar, restaurant and airline staff to check a person’s Covid-19 status.
