Responsible works with fashion brands to ensure greater sustainability through e-commerce

Responsible is technically an e-commerce technology software business but Mark Dowds, its founder and chief executive, prefers to call it re-commerce. That’s because the company works with fashion brands to provide resale of products on secondary platforms – including Responsible’s own one – to reduce waste in the sector.

“Whatever it takes to ensure that what a brand manufactures doesn’t end up in landfill is what we do. The idea came about after I had been approached by Ernst & Young, with whom I was working on their entrepreneur of the year programme. They wanted my view of where the fashion industry was going,” Dowds told Connected.
