The year 2020 was one of shocks, and the dawn of 2021 has done little to make anyone think that things will be back to normal in short order. Practices unheard of before, from mask-wearing to social distancing, will be with us for months at least, and the cancellation of this year’s St Patrick’s Day festivities suggests the government expects Ireland to be in some form of lockdown for a while yet.
