Trouble ahead for state and public sector pensions
International research group McKinsey added its weight to the argument that Ireland is ill-prepared for the pensions time bomb that awaits it, when the group released its report, Is Ireland’s Population Ready for Retirement? last week.
The deep recession has not helped the cause for pensions, nor has the government levy on private pensions. However, according to McKinsey, regardless of the backdrop, the fact remains that as a nation, we are not prepared.
