The natural beauty of West Cork may attract the international plaudits – even homegrown Hollywood star Saoirse Ronan visited last month. But, in the east Cork town of Youghal, houses and shops have been freshly painted to greet the 2,300 athletes and some 18,000 supporters due to arrive later this month for Ireland’s first-ever full Ironman.
