One Direct addresses motorists’ blind spot with new offering

Buyers choose their cars carefully, but give little thought to how they finance their purchase, writes Graham Clifford

While other insurance companies struggled through the recent lean years, One Direct managed to not just grow but to adapt and thrive.

A wholly owned subsidiary of An Post, it watched its motor and home policy customer base grow from 80,000 in 2012 to nearly 150,000 today. Additionally, 18,000 people have taken out life policies with the business, which was launched in 1999.

One Direct policies include car to home and travel insurance. It also offers an over 50s funeral...
