Specialist advisers oil the wheels as Takeda’s €53bn Shire takeover spearheads another strong year of M&A activity, writes Joe O’Shea

From the headline-grabbing international deals to the acquisitions that happened with less fanfare and fireworks, this year has been yet another strong one for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity in Ireland.

The first half of 2018 saw a record half-year deal value of €70.6 billion from a combined 76 deals involving Irish-based firms. Some 92 per cent were in the mid-market (€5 million-€250 million) range, according to William Fry’s mid-year M&A Review....
