Is sitting really the new smoking?
Not quite . . . but prolonged stints at a desk will have a negative impact on your health, writes Dr Mark Rowe
While the headlines may proclaim that sitting is the new smoking, scratch the surface and you will find that this statement is only partly true.
You see, there is no lower safe limit of cigarette consumption. Smoking any amount of cigarettes is bad for your health. Even being in the presence of someone who smokes exposes you to all that toxic side-stream smoke and, not surprisingly, has been banned from many workplaces.
