Shannon is home to one of the two international headquarters of GE Capital Aviation Services (Gecas), a global player in the commercial aircraft leasing and financing industry. The company also has headquarters in Norwalk, Connecticut.

GE Capital signed its first commercial aircraft lease almost 50 years ago, giving it the longest history of any aircraft lessor worldwide. Gecas began operations in Ireland in 1993.
