Focus On: IMERC taps into the wealth of Ireland’s maritime resources

IMERC, the Irish Maritime and Energy Resource Cluster, was launched in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork, in March 2010 to take advantage of Ireland’s extraordinary, but largely untapped maritime resources.

Dr Valerie Cummins, director of IMERC, reminded us that Ireland has one of the largest sea-to-landmass ratios in the world, giving us, as she described it, “huge opportunity to diversify the fundamental pillars of our economy”.
