Leadership is an imperative in today’s world to provide strategic direction for enterprises and to encourage employees to engage with climate action and sustainability issues. The part-time MSc Sustainability Leadership at University of Galway responds to industry’s emerging needs by equipping participants with the skills to address the challenges, risks, and opportunities that environmental sustainability and social responsibility present.

The programme is designed for middle and senior level working professionals who are looking to enhance awareness and understanding of sustainability issues, and their impact on organisations. Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ working experience, along with a primary degree in business, science, engineering or social science.

Classes are delivered mainly online in the evenings, making the programme flexible for any working professional who is looking to upskill in this area. Participants also benefit from four immersive learning in-person blocks over two years.

One of these blocks comprises a study visit to an international partner, Bologna Business School in Italy. Students visit companies in the Bologna region who are leading on sustainability transition, learn from industry thought leaders in the sustainability space, and collaborate with other international sustainability students. The course fees for the programme include the costs of the international study visit.

Applications are currently being accepted for the MSc Sustainability Leadership and a number of scholarships are available to cover up to 50% of the tuition fees.

University of Galway is named the number one university in Ireland for sustainable development, and also ranked 34th in the world by Times Higher Education THE Impact Rankings 2023. University of Galway is also a national Sustainable Development Goal Champion for 2023-24, being the first University to make the list.
