Investment properties are a sore point in Ireland. Some investors borrowed extensively during the boom years to generate extra income or flip properties quickly for a profit.

Others relied on a bulk-buying mentality, sponging up as many properties as they could while a multi-home-owning obsession gripped the country. Of course, we all know how that ended with banks seizing back properties, landlords bemoaning high taxes on existing rental properties, and a patience game to emerge...
