A tweet last Monday carried a photo of a National Front poster from the 1970s. Under the headline “Put Britons First”, it made this series of demands:
STOP immigration
REJECT common market
RESTORE capital punishment
MAKE Britain great again
SCRAP overseas aid
REBUILD our armed forces . . .
How fascinating it is to see how many of those aspirations from the far right of the 1970s are now in vogue in government in Britain.
