A leading oil investor has accused Taoiseach Leo Varadkar of destroying the sector in Ireland.

John Teeling, chairman of Petrel Resources, described a new government policy paper on offshore oil and gas as a “death-knell” for the industry.

He said exploration for fossil fuels in Irish waters was “finished”, and that he was “adamantly against any more money being spent” by his company in the region.
