US fund bidding to take control of Eir
Telecoms firm set for yet another change of ownership
Telecoms company Eir, the former Eircom, could be in line for yet another change of ownership with news that US private equity firm Anchorage Capital is bidding to take a controlling stake in the company.
A notification on the website of the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission said Anchorage had notified it yesterday of the proposed purchase of Eir’s parent company Eircom Holdco.
Anchorage was already Eir’s largest shareholder with a stake of almost 40 per cent. Earlier this year. Eirchief financial officer Huib Costermans told the Sunday Business Post Anchorage had "a long-term investment horizon' and ruled out a flotation of the company.
