Strategy will be focused on digital business and financial services

UCD College of Business has announced plans to invest €65m over the next five years in an effort to become one of the top 50 business schools in the world.

The institution comprises UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, UCD Lochlann Quinn School, Smurfit Executive Education and UCD Business International, which operates in Singapore, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka. It is currently ranked in the top 100 business schools in the world.

The college says its strategy will be focusing in particular on digital business and the future of financial services, as well as ensuring that graduates are aware of their broader responsibilities to society.

The €65m plan, approved by the college's advisory board, will come from non-Exchequer sources including its operating surplus, income from overseas operations, sponsorships and gifts.

"Both financial services and digital business are truly internationalised services where, not only has Ireland enjoyed success, but where significant scope exists to carve out leadership positions," the college says.
