University College Cork’s new head of media, Eoin Hahessy, is determined to play a role in reversing the current trend of evidence-based research being derided and undermined
Days before Britain voted to leave the European Union in June 2016, the then British secretary of state for justice Michael Gove infamously declared that “people in this country have had enough of experts”.
Gove’s claim was in line with the backlash against experts which has grown in recent years, according to Eoin Hahessy, the new head of media and PR at the University College Cork. Universities have to play a part in changing these attitudes....
