American real estate mogul Thomas ‘Tom’ J Barrack jr has emerged as one of the biggest players in Dublin property. His company Colony Capital has invested – or is planning to invest – €3 billion in the capital in various joint ventures with Johnny Ronan

Last week, one part of this plan emerged when social media giant Facebook confirmed it was building a giant campus in Dublin 4, capable of holding 5,000 people, to be built by Ronan and Colony. Elsewhere, Colony has worked with other well-known Irish developers such as Paddy McKillen and acquired its own property portfolio from Nama and other banks.
