Plans to slash tax rates and broaden the tax base may be on the cards, but we must wait to see the real colour of the US president-elect’s prose

Candidates campaign in poetry, but govern in prose. There was little poetry to be found in many of US president-elect Donald Trump’s claims and promises prior to polling day. We have yet to see the colour of the prose of his presidential decision-making, but we have seen much exaggerated writing about the likely effect of Trump’s proposed policies on the world economy in general, and the Irish economy in particular.
