The property taxman cometh, again

The introduction of the local property tax was the ‘largest extension of self-assessment in the history of the state’

So far this year the taxman has collected nearly €400 million from local property tax, and is now gearing up to collect the 2016 instalment of the tax.

In recent weeks, hundreds of thousands of letters have been issued to property owners by the Revenue Commissioners, asking them to decide how they intend to pay the 2016 instalment of the property tax.
