There have never been as many entrepreneurs in Ireland as there are today. Last year, the number of companies registered passed the 20,000 mark for the first time in 18 years.

According to business stats released by Vision-Net at the start of the year, the new figure beat the 2015 figure by 8 per cent. It was even the second-highest number recorded in the past 36 years.
