Retail Ireland said that while it would take time to wrestle back the significant amounts of money being spent outside the country, Irish retailers were responding by boosting their online presence
A report from Retail Ireland has highlighted worries in the sector about declining footfall and a slowdown in consumer spending, despite what it described as “slow but steady” growth in the final quarter of last year.
The organisation said, however, that Irish retail had shown its resilience in recent years and rejected suggestions that the “death of retail” was imminent.
