The state is planning a major crackdown on insurance fraud as it attempts to lower the cost of motor premiums.

The Sunday Business Post understands that the government’s insurance working group will recommend scrapping paper-based car insurance discs, and allowing gardaí to use automatic number plate recognition technology.
