Smurfit Kappa eyes buys as Q3 results impress

Increase in profits comes despite higher costs and currency movements

Smurfit Kappa says prospects better as an independent company

Shares in paper and packaging group Smurfit Kappa rose sharply in Dublin this morning after its third quarter results came in slightly ahead of analysts’ expectations.

The shares were up almost 3.5 per cent to €20.23 in Dublin this morning. The company has its main listing in London.

Earnings before before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at €323m, 6 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
