Singled out for surprise scrutiny

Due diligence firms have targeted First Derivatives and Babcock in recent weeks, with perilous results for those companies’ share prices

At the beginning of October, the share price of First Derivatives started to fall. It was a volatile few weeks for stock markets, but the decline and the volume of shares traded was alarming. In the space of a couple of days, the North’s biggest stock market-quoted company had lost more than €200 million off its value.
