The recession laid waste to many Irish hotels. But Dalata founder Pat McCann, who celebrates half a century in the industry next year, now thinks it may well have saved his own business

Next year marks Pat McCann’s 50th year in the hotel business. He’s as enthusiastic now as he was starting out. Not long after I sit down with him, he reels off a series of impressive statistics about Dalata Hotel Group, which he set up and has run since 2007.
