Providence Resources appoints Pat Plunkett as chairman

The executive chairman of T5 Oil and Gas will assume the role from October 1

Pat Plunkett has been named as the company's new chairman

Providence Resources has appointed Pat Plunkett as non-executive chairman of the company, with effect from October 1, to replace James McCarthy who is stepping down from the role.

Plunkett, a founding partner of Riada Stocbkrokers which was later sold to ABN Amro, served as non-executive chairman of Tullow Oil from 2000 to 2011 and is currently executive chairman of T5 Oil and Gas, a private oil and gas company he founded in 2013.

"We very much look forward to benefitting from the extensive knowledge and experience that Pat will offer as we move forward with our very exciting programme offshore Ireland," Providence chief executive Tony O'Reilly said.

McCarthy will remain a non-executive director of the company.Providence also said non-executive director Phil Nolan plans to retire from the board from the start of October due to other business commitments.
