Podcasting is the new gold rush, but most hopefuls will make no money

We seem to be hitting some form of peak podcasting. This newspaper has run two substantial recent features on the topic. The Irish Times has ramped up coverage. Spotify has signed up the Obamas to provide programming.

The narrative is that it’s an emerging competitor to other forms of audio, radio in particular. I hate to rain on your podcasting parade, but I believe that it’s mostly bunkum.
