Phantom founder to battle Communicorp for licence

The original founder of rock station Phantom is preparing to battle Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp group for Dublin’s only alternative rock music radio licence.

The licence, currently held by TXFM, expires in October 2016 and expressions of interest in it are due in two months.

Simon Maher, who co-founded Phantom as a pirate station in 1998, said he was pursuing the licence.
