Digicel, Denis O’Brien’s Caribbean telecoms group, has lost a long-running case against Jamaica’s competition enforcer over its takeover of the island’s third-biggest mobile operator in 2011.

The British Privy Council, which is the final legal body for settling disputes in Commonwealth nations, ruled last week that the Jamaican Fair Trading Commision did have the right to intervene in the merger between Digicel and Claro.
