New draft legislation approved on casual work practices

New draft legislation has been approved by government to address problems associated with the increased casualisation of work.

The draft proposals, which address zero-hour contracts, low-hour contracts, banded hours and related matters, are targeted at low-paid workers in particular.

Introduced on May 2, they have been brought forward by Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, and Pat Breen, Minister for Employment and Small Business.
