New cancer-fighting gel could benefit 135,000 patients a year

A medtech project under way at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin is using hydrogel to develop a localised chemotherapy treatment for pancreatic cancer.

The Chemogel project is run by Dr Helena Kelly and Prof Garry Duffy. Kelly is a senior lecturer at the RCSI’s School of Pharmacy; Duffy is personal professor of anatomy at NUI Galway’s School of Medicine.
