Mr Saturday Night: D’Arcy could boost RTE’s coffers

Increase in ad revenue expected from changing of the guard

RTE may boost advertising revenue on Saturday nights when Ray D’Arcy takes over from Brendan O’Connor as the presenter of its chat show, media buyers have said.

When he takes on the show in September, D’Arcy is expected to attract an audience at least as large as O’Connor’s and may attract a higher advertising spend, as his appeal is seen as being to a younger demographic of those aged 25 to 44.
