The new managing director has been getting to grips with the English and French

Northern Hemisphere rugby is at rock bottom. That’s the populist conclusion that has been drawn from this season’s World Cup. England’s failure to advance from the group stages, coupled with the quarter-final defeats for Ireland, Wales, France and Scotland has led to suggestions that the teams and structures in the Southern Hemisphere are decades ahead of their European counterparts. Critics are calling for an overhaul of how the sport is played, coached and managed within the Six Nations countries. It’s safe to say that Martin Anayi could have hoped for an easier start to life as the first managing director of the Guinness Pro12.
