The self-employed face a significantly worse financial position in retirement than private sector employees and public sector employees, according to new research.
A survey by the Irish Brokers Association (IBA) found that just 41 per cent of self-employed people are contributing to a pension fund.
Just over one in five self-employed people are relying on preserved pension benefits from when they were employees.
