The Kingdom's reign shows no sign of ending

Back in 2009, working at the now-defunct Sunday Tribune, a thought crossed my mind and, soon after, a conversation was struck up with the editor. “Diarmuid Murphy has left youth behind, the defence outside of Killian Young averages 31, Darragh Ó Sé and Seamus Scanlon are eyeing retirement, Tommy Walsh left for St Kilda, David Moran is on trial and Tadgh Kennelly is heading back,” I told him. “Kerry may have won their fifth title of the millennium, but no champion has faced such a dismantling.” Call it naivety or stupidity, but soon afterwards I was pondering Kerry’s end in print.
