Too many social welfare payments go automatically to people who don’t need them

Later this month, on March 25, the €5 increase promised in last October’s budget will be paid to state pension recipients, lone parents (who also get other benefit adjustments), carers, parents on maternity, paternity and adoptive leave, people with disabilities and job seekers.
