Company to base new €5m distillery on Achill Island
IrishAmerican Trading Company is taking the term whiskey on the rocks to the extreme as it plans to open Ireland’s first ever island-based distillery.
The €5 million distillery will be based on Achill Island in Mayo.
The bespoke stills are currently being manufactured and owner John McKay said he expects the distillery to open in the autumn. It also has plans for a visitor centre which is scheduled to open next year.
