Ireland’s start-up scene is alive and kicking

While a no-deal Brexit remains a significant threat to the Irish economy, start-ups are shrugging off those concerns and looking to innovate and re-shape a whole range of industries and product categories

At one point in the 1980s, Dublin was described as the “city of a thousand bands” as record companies trawled the capital searching for the next U2. Dublin, and indeed the whole country, entered something of a start-up frenzy after the financial crash, prompting observers to switch to describing Ireland as the ‘start-up island’.
