Government policy means Ireland is losing out on European science grants, according to Luke O’Neill, a professor of biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin and one of the world’s foremost immunology experts.

In an interview with The Sunday Business Post, O’Neill said more indigenous funding of science was required if Ireland was to benefit from the EU’s multi-billion euro Horizon 2020 grant programme.
