Independent News & Media has agreed a €145 million takeover by a European media company, signalling the end ofmore than a century of Irish ownership of the country’s biggest newspaper publisher.

In a statement on Tuesday morning, INM said that it had agreed to a 10.5 cent a share cash offer from the privately-held Mediahuis, which owns a string of newspapers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
