It seems Ireland’s love affair with the American fashion chain Abercrombie & Fitch has ended, with the company reporting a sharp fall in sales and profits at its outlets here.

The company’s pre-tax profits for the year to the end of January slipped to just under €579,000, a decline of almost 20 per cent.

Sales at the company’s two outlets in Ireland, fell to €14 million, from €16.6 million, newly filed accounts reveal.
