It’s the longest programme for government ever published. At more than 40,000 words it’s as big as a novel and contains enough goodies (mostly uncosted) to keep everyone happy. Almost.
There has been a level of alarm in the banks at some of the measures that affect them, especially regarding the plan to carry out an independent assessment of arrears and negative equity loan books and the prospect of forced interest rate cuts.
