I spotted a tweet yesterday that got me thinking. It said that the reason hardly anyone has their phones on silent anymore is because we look at them so often, we don’t need to be reminded of their existence with a loud ringtone.

It’s true. A Deloitte survey last year found that Irish people check their phones 57 times a day on average. It is fair to wager that some of those clicks are due to people checkingFacebook, especially since Ipsos MRBI found that 65 per cent of adults aged 15+ have a Facebook account in Ireland and 45 per cent of these use it daily.
