Brexit confusion highlights the need for a US-style figure within government structures to fight our corner when political decisions are being made

Last week’s US mid-term elections were a useful reminder that they do things differently over there. The US system of governance may well be better overall. How much more focused would an Irish government be if there was a prospect of losing a core part of its support from elected representatives midway through a Dáil term?
