Gardaí wrap up probe into health insurance firm
Gardaí have ruled out any further action after concluding a criminal investigation into the society that provides health insurance for the country’s gardaí.
St Paul’s Garda medical aid society gets an annual grant of €124,000 grant from the taxpayer. Its full-time secretary also gets his Garda salary paid for by the force, on top of a separate wage from the society.
It offers what have been described as “gold-plated” health insurance packages to gardaí and their families which are far cheaper than those on offer to the general public.
