Gambling law ‘could force more casinos to close’
Trade body issues warning as Fitzwilliam Casino and Card Club in Dublin ceases trading with loss of 80 jobs
Many casinos and card clubs could be forced to close as a result of a gambling law set to come into force this week, a trade body has warned.
The Fitzwilliam Casino and Card Club near Merrion Square in Dublin last night let 80 staff go and told customers it was closing. It said members’ deposits and cash chips would be honoured in full, and staff will receive statutory redundancy and leave entitlements.
