There are enough star players in the Irish stock market to provide a healthy diversity of investment, but avoid the finance sector like the plague
The Irish stock market provides plenty of opportunity for diversification, but beware the traps in the banking sector. In this column, I have been critical of the sheepish tendency among Irish investors to confine their interest to companies listed on the Irish stock exchange. One exception to this, perhaps, is Diageo, the international drinks and spirits group. But that exception has arisen by accident.
